What Is PM Surya Ghar Yojana?

Launched by the Government of India in February 2024, PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana is the country’s flagship rooftop solar subsidy scheme. Eligible households can receive a central subsidy of up to ₹78,000, paid directly to your bank account via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) once your system is installed and commissioned. In Uttar Pradesh, this stacks with a state-level subsidy from UPNEDA — taking your total support up to ₹1,08,000.

At Jain Energy Solutions, we handle your entire subsidy application alongside your installation. No agents, no commissions, no hidden deductions — just the subsidy you’re entitled to, credited straight to your account.

How to Apply for the Subsidy

We manage most of this on your behalf — here’s what actually happens, step by step.

Register on the PM Surya Ghar National Portal using your electricity consumer number and Aadhaar OTP.
Submit your rooftop details and preferred system size to complete your application.
Select an MNRE-registered installer — like Jain Energy Solutions — for a free site survey.
Your installer sets up the system using ALMM-listed panels and certified components.
Your DISCOM inspects the installation and fits a net meter.
We upload the commissioning certificate on the National Portal to trigger the subsidy process.
The subsidy is credited directly to your bank account, typically within 30–45 days of commissioning.

Things to Check Before You Go Solar

Check Your Electricity Bill

See how many units you consume monthly — 1kW generates roughly 1,300–1,400 units/year.

Check Your Sanctioned Load

Solar capacity can’t exceed your sanctioned load, but it can be enhanced if needed.

Check Available Roof Space

1kW needs roughly 80 sq ft of shadow-free roof space.

Verify Component Quality

Check the brand and technology of the panels, inverter, structure, and cables being quoted.

Frequently Asked Questions

It’s the Government of India’s rooftop solar scheme, launched in February 2024. Eligible households can get up to ₹78,000 in central subsidy, plus up to ₹30,000 more from Uttar Pradesh’s state scheme if you’re a UP resident.
The scheme is built around individual residential homes with independent rooftop access. Apartment residents can benefit if their housing society installs a shared system that meets DISCOM requirements — individual flat owners generally can’t apply on their own.
Usually 30–45 days from when the commissioning certificate is uploaded to the National Portal. We handle this upload for you as soon as your system passes DISCOM inspection.
Yes. Several banks and NBFCs offer solar loans linked to PM Surya Ghar at reasonable rates. Once your subsidy is credited, it’s simply adjusted against your loan principal.
Rejections usually come down to mismatched documents, an incorrect consumer number, or load conditions that don’t line up. We review your application carefully before submission to avoid this, and help you fix and resubmit if it happens.
No. Under current income tax rules, the subsidy received via Direct Benefit Transfer is not treated as taxable income for residential households.
Only panels listed on the ALMM (Approved List of Models and Manufacturers) maintained by MNRE qualify. We only install ALMM-listed panels, so your subsidy is never put at risk on this front.
It’s an option for households who’d rather skip the subsidy and move faster — sometimes chosen simply to speed up installation without waiting on subsidy processing.
Make sure your name and details match exactly across all your documents, your consumer number and DISCOM details are correct, and your bank account is accurate and Aadhaar-linked. We double-check all of this before we submit anything on your behalf.
